Former England captain David Beckham has admitted he would love to bring Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann to his new MLS club based in Miami.

Beckham’s Miami football project seems to be finally developing after his side, Inter Miami, gained the approval to continue plans to build a new football stadium.

Inter Miami should be ready to play professional football within the MLS by 2020 with staff both on and off the pitch yet to commit themselves to the project.

Beckham has spoken to reporters about the project as a whole including players he would love to bring to the new club to ply their trade in the hot Florida sun.

Unsurprisingly, Atletico forward Griezmann is a player Beckham would love to bring to Miami, citing their mutual respect for each other as a potential avenue to explore at a later date.

“It’s always nice to have great players want to come and play for our team,” Beckham told ESPN FC.

“He’s such a great player. I’m a fan of his, he’s a fan of mine, so maybe one day he will be gracing the building in Miami and that’s what we want.”

“Of course I have had a lot of players contacting me and not just because they want to play for the team. They want to live in a great city, they want to live in a city that is vibrant, that is exciting, that really wants to be something and already is something. That’s exciting for people.”

Does Griezmann want to play in MLS?

These links aren’t just random wishes dreamed up by the former Three Lions leader but reactions to comments previously made by the talented Frenchman.

As documented via Squawka days ago, the 2018 World Cup winner spoke to reporters about future plans within the game and admitted the prospect of playing in America, specifically either Los Angeles or Miami, is a prospect that appeals to him.

“If he (Beckham) wants me at his club, then I’ll go,” Griezmann told L’Equipe via Metro.

“I want to finish in the MLS. We will see if that will be in Los Angeles or Miami. They are two nice cities. I like the mentality and the showbusiness culture they have in the U.S.”

At the age of just 27, Griezmann surely has many more seasons based in Europe, most likely with Atletico, but like many pros before him, maybe a late career move may just happen.
