Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has revealed that when club forward Antoine Griezmann plays well, the entire team play well.

Griezmann’s form for Simeone’s side has seen him develop into one of the most talented strikers in world football which has coincided with Atletico’s continuous rise throughout both the domestic and European game.

Atletico defeated Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund 2-0 yesterday in the Champions League as they press on with their European campaign which currently has them joint-top of Group A with the Germans on nine points.

Speaking to reporters (via Football Espana) after their victory, Simeone heaped praise upon his striker, confirming that when he performs, the team performs.

“Antoine’s on an extraordinary run of form,” Simeone said after the game.

“He came into this season from a fantastic 2017-18. When he plays like this the team do very well, but everyone did very well.

Griezmann’s career with Atletico

The Frenchman joined Atletico in 2014 from La Liga rivals Real Sociedad for a transfer fee of €30 million.

Since then, Griezmann has played 225 games in total for Atletico, scoring an impressive 118 goals, averaging a goal every 1.9 games.

In his time at the club so far, Griezmann has won the Europa League (2017/18), the Uefa Super Cup (2018) and the Supercopa de Espana in 2014.
