West Ham summer recruit Issa Diop has provoked interest from Paris Saint-Germain but has revealed he is happy in east London.

Diop, 21, relocated to the Premier League having impressed for Toulouse where he amassed 95 appearances across all competitions, as well as captaining the side last campaign as the Violets reached the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.

And the mountainous defender has already made a similar impact with West Ham, cementing a starting berth in the heart of Manuel Pellegrini’s defence, as well as endearing himself to the Hammers faithful.

Such has been his influence at the London Stadium that Jose Mourinho even lavished praise on the Frenchman after his Manchester United side succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to West Ham, branding Diop a “monster.”

But it is not just the Portuguese coach who has noticed the exploits of West Ham’s star centre-back, as he has also reportedly sparked interest from the Parisians, with Diop believed to be in Thomas Tuchel’s crosshairs.

Despite this, Diop has suggested he is not paying attention to the rumours of a possible winter move, instead offering a rather flippant response to the speculation.

Diop told beIN Sports: “Honestly, I know nothing about a PSG winter move.

“I learned the information like you did, I saw them via social media.

“Perhaps my agent knows more, I need to check with him! I am very good with West Ham right now. I am enjoying getting to know the Premier League each weekend.”

Issa Diop’s ascent

At 6 ft 4 in, the 21-year-old is a physically imposing figure, though he possesses the requisite athleticism to function in Pellegrini’s ball-playing defence – similar to that of Virgil van Dijk in Jurgen Klopp’s system.

And having played just a handful of games in the Premier League, Diop already looks like a star in the making, though he is just three matches shy of making 100 professional appearances in all competitions.

That is due to Diop making his debut at just 18, where he quickly established himself an integral part of the Toulouse defence during his three senior seasons at the Stadium Municipal.
